DARK GAIA'S PROFILE

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.

I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

Variable Village

Hey there. I played Variable Village today and I've submitted a full review. It should be accepted in a few hours. Ultimately, I found the game enjoyable and it did have a Fatal Frame 2 vibe to it, but I'm assuming that the fact that you're modelling your game on a horror series means it is supposed to be a horror game, and you didn't do quite so well there.

Do you guys still acknowledge your early projects?

Hey there everyone.

I'm sure all of us have that one game from our early RM* days that is so terrible that the only thing it's good for is making people point and laugh. Sure, such a project was (hopefully) a valuable learning experience for us, but if you're anything like me, now that you've improved and become a somewhat respectable developer, you'd rather forget that your crappy first project never existed.

So, I'm curious to know; what exactly do you guys do with those old, crappy projects that pale in comparison to your current games? I have an old project myself (Tales of Worlds) that has been absent from the internet for about two years now out of shame. Nevertheless, I remember that I still spent a good six months getting the game to completion. Is it a waste to simply abandon all those hours of (relatively) hard work?

Let's Try with LockeZ

Can you try One Night: Full Circle ( http://rpgmaker.net/games/1577/ )? I've had this game out for a while but I've received nearly no meaningful feedback about it at all.

You should note that it's a horror themed game and while it is the final game in a trilogy, you should be able to enjoy the story anyway.

Moving Day (night) - Done!

Not sure if this is been reported, but I can't download any games. Clicking the download button just brings me to the wet paint page.

Hmm, that does sound like a better way to do it. I'll go over it again in the next few days. As you can no doubt tell, I'm only just learning the nuances of Photoshop.

On First Projects

Exactly what I'm trying to say. When I started Legionwood, I'd had RPG Maker VX for only two days. This accounts for why the first few builds were crap.

On First Projects

Well, the point is that your first projects were simple. As you said, they weren't long and were mostly full of default stuff. You were still learning the program.

Yes, I figured that by now it was no longer needed.

On First Projects

Oh yes, I completely forgot about that. I was mainly trying to address the issue of newbies simply opening up the program and trying to make Final Fantasy XIV right off the bat with no experience. I'll edit the article and include a suggestion to try the games of others, too.

Gaia's Epic Love Poem

I enjoy writing poetry, but I think it shows that it's not my literary strength. Personally, I'm much more comfortable writing fiction and I know much more about the literary techniques of narrative writing than I do about poetry. I've rarely studied poetry before, so the technical side of it is lost on me.

Thanks for your feedback, though! I do want to try and refine this particular poem. There's a peer reviewed literary journal published at my university that I've had stories published in before, and I'm thinking of sending in this poem once it's been cleaned up a little.
